The reward of sowing a seed and following its path through harvest is unmatched.

We take immense pride in growing flowers for use in our own designs and are proud to supply other local vendors as well. In doing so, we reduce the miles our flowers travel, along with the fossil fuel and packaging materials that travel requires. Sustainability is at the forefront of our business model.

Stroll through our fields in the images below.

At Buttermilk Floral we grow dozens of varieties of specialty cut flowers every season. Each farming season is unique. In winter you will find us dividing dahlias, sowing seeds, planting in the high tunnel. In spring we eagerly await drier days so we can plant in the field. Summer is full of flowers, and harvesting. Fresh for our wedding designs, and wholesale. Several varieties are grown just for drying for wreaths and bouquets in the fall and winter months. Fall, harvesting, digging dahlias, putting the field to bed, cover cropping and wreath making.

Party Buckets

Do you have a party or special event coming up and want to create your arrangements? From June through October, we offer bulk buckets of blooms for you to create your own flowers.

Each bucket contains between 50-80 stems of blooms and foliage. These are priced at 85.00. Clients can choose a color palette and we harvest the freshest blooms from our field for you. These are available for pick up from our Arcata studio. We can not guarantee a specific flower and the mixes change seasonally.  Below are some examples of past season’s buckets. Email faye@buttermilkfloral to inquire. Available for purchase in our shop section during the summer months.

Wreaths and Dried Flowers

We grow and harvest hundreds of blooms purely for use in our dried products.

Drying flowers allows us to preserve the overabundance of summer into the winter months. This creates a seasonal extension for our business, allowing us to provide locally grown blooms all year round.

Find our dried flowers on our website, at local craft fairs, and in dried bouquets at local grocery stores each winter.

Our dried wreaths ship all over the country and make for wonderful, long-lasting gifts.
